and the connection to Teenscreen
www.teenscreentruth.com/Teensc...ard.htm

In 2006, The Overnight will take place in San Francisco on July 22-23, and in Chicago on August 12-13.
Each walker agrees to raise at least $1,000.
Net proceeds will benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, (supposedly to prevent suicide.) How ever this Foundation funds Teenscreen. the real result will be more teens on drugs known to the F.D.A. and others to INCREASE the numbers of suicidal teenagers. This march takes advantage of grieving people and is an example of how far the pharmaceutical industry is willing to go to get kids on drugs! The organizers of teenscreen have been caught lieing repeatedly. learn more -

There were 145 million prescriptions written for antidepressants in 2003
Children accounted for 7 percent of the total of antidepressants prescriptions written.
10 million children on antidepressants.

A large study combined the results of 24 different smaller studies of children and teenagers who took either sugar pills or antidepressants for 1 to 4 months. Although no one committed suicide in these studies (They were under almost constant observation. Suicides rarely happen when kids are being observed.), some young patients became suicidal. On sugar pills, 2 out of every 100 became suicidal. On the antidepressants, 4 out of every 100 young patients became suicidal.
2 out of every 100 young patients became suicidal who would not have with out the antidepressants.

In 2003 200,000 children became suicidal because of antidepressants.

Correlation Between Suicide Rate and Antidepressant Use in Slovenia

Abstract:

Major descriptors of Slovenian suicide statistics are presented for the 13-year period ending in 1997. The purpose of the present study was to discover whether the introduction of antidepressant therapy influenced the Slovenian suicide dynamic. Collected national data on the rate of suicide and seasonal dispersion of suicide were compared with the prescription rates of antidepressives for the same period. NO SIGNIFICANT CORRELATION BETWEEN INCREASED ANTIDEPRESSANT PRESCRIPTIONS AND DECREASED SUICIDE RATE WERE FOUND. A possible decrease in the springtime suicide rate was observed. The Slovenian data, presented in a recent article, suggested some precaution toward descriptions of strong correlation between suicide and antidepressant therapy.

Why is the Slovenian study important?

One of the drug companies arguments to support the idea that antidepressants prevent suicide is

“Epidemiological data shows that the areas of the U.S. that have experienced the greatest increase in SSRI prescription rates have had the greatest drop in suicide rates in both youth and adults “ (Notice that they do not give us the actual study statistics.)

What these studies are showing is that POVERTY is a cause of suicide.
impoverished people are more likely to commit suicide.

Poor people can not afford to take expensive antidepressants.

Stress is also a factor in suicide rates. What can be more stressful then never-ending worry about money?

In Washington, suicide rates increase as poverty increases and as educational attainment decreases.

Common causes cited include bullying, abuse, poverty, homelessness, and alcohol abuse.

The experience of long-term poverty affects a child’s personality development,
through a family stress process in which poverty is considered to be one of the
major factors. This causes family dysfunction, stress among caregivers and
inadequate parenting.

Unlike the U.S. Slovenia has national health care.

Literacy rate total population: 99.7%

With its small transition economy and population of approximately two million, Slovenia is a model of economic success and stability for its neighbors in the former Yugoslavia. The country, which joined the EU in 2004, has excellent infrastructure, a well-educated work force, and an excellent central location. It enjoys a GDP per capita substantially higher than any of the other transitioning economies of Central Europe. In March 2004, Slovenia became the first transition country to graduate from borrower status to donor partner at the World Bank. Slovenia plans to adopt the euro by 2007 and has met the EU's Maastricht criteria for inflation.
